TASP Employment - Lab Monitor

The TASP employs between 6-8 lab monitors who maintain the TASP Resource Lab (McIver 150) and the TASP Tutoring Lab (McIver 101) during working hours.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service and Communication

  • Develop knowledge of all LAC procedures and policies
  • Answer phone/in person questions in a professional manner
  • Relay information to tutors/students
  • Make phone calls/email tutors

Lab Management

  • Open, maintain, and/or close the lab during your respective shift(s)
  • Greet all persons entering and leaving the lab
  • Sign textbooks and other resources in/out for tutors and students
  • Provide basic computer maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintain all paperwork, handouts, flyers, etc.
  • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning
  • Uphold lab policies (e.g., no cell phones, no eating/drinking at the computer stations, maintain reasonable voice levels, etc.)
  • Log students into learning skills assessments (resource lab only)
  • Keep the lab clean and orderly; push chairs in after sessions
  • Update the Office Assistant or Assistant Director with supply requests
  • Maintain bulletin boards and create new and informative themes
  • Demonstrate an ability to use all equipment (cameras, computers, etc)


  • Wear your SSC name tag while you are working
  • If asked, assist with distribution of evaluations and surveys
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Candidates must be available for a 10-15 hr/wk schedule
  • Must be available for a shift lasting 3-5 hours a day
  • The lab is open from 9 am – 5pm, Monday through Friday during the regular semester. It is closed during university breaks and may hold alternate hours during exam week


  • $7.50/hr
