Graduate Assistant

The SIP Graduate Assistant will support the SIP office during the academic semester of Fall 2009. The Graduate Assistant will report to the SIP Assistant Director and the the Office Assistant in the Supplemental Instruction office, as well as Director of the Student Success Center. The SIP GA direct supervisor will be the SIP Assistant Director.

This position is responsible for the following:
  • Undergo training by the Assistant Director and Office Assistant of Supplemental Instruction
  • Part-time employment of 19 hours per week (stipend offered)
  • Manage the SIP Database in MS ACCESS:
    1. Input SIP session attendance sheets daily
    2. Examine all records for errors/oversights
    3. Examine all database entries carefully to ensure database is error-free
  • Run reports from the database on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly/semester basis until all reports are completed at the end of each semester before departure
  • Create and run SPSS reports on a semester basis (if applicable)
  • Assist with payroll records and complete payroll reports in a timely manner
  • Assist with communication with SIP Leaders and Faculty on a regular basis
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Office Assistant or Student Success Center Director

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Applicant must have a strong and working knowledge of ACCESS database program and ability to complete an ACCESS assessment upon interviewing with the Assistant Director
  • Applicant must be a graduate student registered with The Graduate School and enrolled in classes each hiring semester
  • Applicant must be able to interact with students, leaders, faculty and staff in a courteous and professional manner with excellent communication skills
  • Maintain a weekly work schedule, arrive to work on time, wear name tage and complete all tasks on deadline

Additional Skills Considered:

  • Applicants with good knowledge of SPSS and other such statistical software programs will be highly considered
