LAC Student Success Stories

SSS Mission Statement Special Support Services will help promote the academic success of students qualifying for services by providing support in academic skills, counseling, and tutoring. We seek to maximize student performance while creating strong and independent learners. Special Support Services implements its belief that all students can be successful given the proper assistance, and to define, recognize, and respect each student's individual abilities.
Goal of SSS To increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
Description of SSS Special Support Services (SSS) is a TRIO education support program designed to maximize academic performance for UNCG students who are first-generation, from modest income backgrounds, or who have a disability, and who also demonstrate academic need for services . Services include counseling, academic skills instruction, tutoring, graduate school guidance, and learning lab.
Location of SSS Special Support Services main office is located in 110 McIver Building on the UNCG Campus. The SSS Learning Lab, with computers, tutoring services, academic skills services, and counseling services is located in room 105 McIver Building. Staff offices are located in 142 McIver Building.
