Disability Information

Laptop loan program
SSS has a limited number of Dell laptops available for students with documented disabilities to borrow. Laptops are loaned for a period of one month, at which time the student is responsible for checking it back in for any necessary updates. The student is welcome to check it back out provided there are not other students on the waiting list.

Calculator loan program
Graphing calculators are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis for students. Similarly, they are loaned for a period of one month.

Tutoring
Students registered with Office of Disability Services can receive an additional hour of individualized tutoring, bringing the total to 3 hours per week per course.

Academic Skills
Our learning lab offers specialized computer programs including foreign language software in Spanish and French, and English grammar, as well as a variety of reading programs and other academic skills software packages. Our Assistant Director for Academic Skills is also available to assist with assessing study skills for students with learning disabilities and providing one-on-one skill building to enhance weaker areas.

Counseling
Individualized counseling is available to help students with academic, career and graduate school guidance, financial aid, and personal concerns. Informational workshops are also available.

Modified foreign language
The Department of Romance Languages offers a modified foreign language program in Spanish. This program is designed for students with documented learning disabilities and those students with demonstrable, long-standing difficulties with learning a foreign language. To learn more, click here.
