Student Office Assistant
Special Support Services (SSS) is one of the academic support units within the Student Success Center (SSC), under the Division of Enrollment Services. SSS is also a TRIO educational support program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Tutoring, writing and academic skills assistance, and counseling/advising services are focused on individual need for eligible undergraduate students. All services are provided on a one-on-one basis.
This is a part-time position Monday-Friday, with a range of 7-10 hours per week. The starting salary range will be determined by the Office Assistant and depends upon the applicant's experience.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Full or part-time student status in a UNCG undergraduate program
- Have a Federal Work Study Award as part of their 2008-2009 Financial Aid package
- Dependable, attentive to detail, professional, committed, and discreet
- Works well with minimal supervision
- Professional and pleasant speaking and telephone manner
- PC literacy (ability to learn and quickly become comfortable with new technology)
- Accurate typing and filing skills
Job Description
Work closely with the SSS Office Assistant to:
- Scanning and importing program documents to Nolij Web
- Filing and maintaining student files
- Receptionist for program when SSS OA is unavailable
- Answers telephone
- Greets students and visitors
- Use of office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, fax machine, laminator, paper trimmer, binder, etc.
- Assists SSS OA in collecting data for processing/responding to inquiries
- Use of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, Document Imaging, knowledge of Access a plus)
- Assists in supply inventory management
- Assists in preparing mailings to program participants
- Special projects as assigned by program director or other staff
- Wears SSC student employee name tag at all times during work hours
This position reports to the Office Assistant .
