General Information about our FREE SSS Tutoring
CRLA
Certified:
The Student Success Center's tutoring programs are certified by the College
Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) at levels I, II, and III. All
of our tutors are CRLA certified or are working towards CRLA certification.
CRLA is a national organization representing student-oriented professionals
active in the fields of learning assistance, developmental education,
and tutorial services at the college level. This national organization's
most vital function and overall purpose is to provide a forum for the
exchange of ideas, methods and information to improve student learning
and to facilitate the growth of its methods.
Spartans Serving Spartans Philosophy:
The tutoring component exists to develop independent learners and improve
student academic performance. Our CRLA certified peer and professional
tutors strive to help students excel in difficult courses through the
application of both academic skills and knowledge of the course content.
In keeping with our mission of providing holistic, quality service,
tutoring is available for most courses, and is conducted on a one-to-one
basis. Services are FREE for all students who
qualify for the Special Support Services program.
Tutees Make Great Tutors:
Although tutoring services are FREE to students, the tutors do get paid.
We encourage anyone interested in helping their fellow peers to maintain
a cumulative 3.0 GPA and earn a B+ or higher in their courses so that
one day they can join our Spartan Tutoring Team!
