How Do I Get A Tutor?

  1. Request a Tutor
  2. Check your UNCG Email
    • Within 48 business hours, you will receive an e-mail from the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services with the name and contact information of your tutor (this applies during the regular semesters; in between terms and especially during the summer, this process may take longer). It is your responsibility to contact your tutor within 24 hours of receiving this message.
    • If no tutor is currently available, the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services will initially notify you of this situation. Then, you will be contacted weekly letting you know your status. This will continue until a tutor is available, you drop your request, or the end of the semester occurs.

  3. (IMPORTANT) If no one has contacted you within 48 hours of your request submission, call the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services, Nyesha Hinds-Pagnou, immediately at 336.334.3787 or email at nkhindsp@uncg.edu and ask why. If you fail to do this, the Assistant Director cannot assist you.

I have a Tutor. Now what?

  1. Establish with your tutor one (1) meeting time per week and one meeting location that will remain the same for the entire semester.
  2. Arrive at each meeting with questions and be ready for interactive sessions.
  3. Every third (3rd) session you will complete an evaluation on your tutor's performance called the "SSC Tutor Assessment Rubric" and return it to the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services in room 142E McIver Bldg.
  4. Excel with confidence and contact the Assistant Director for Tutoring Services with ANY questions or concerns!
