Minerva’s Academic Curriculum

Welcome to MAC, UNCG’s general education program!

New for Fall 2021, Minerva's Academic Curriculum (MAC) focuses on the development of eleven foundational competencies (in 33-34 credit hours) that are important for learning in college and life. Each competency is fulfilled by completing a single course, and students can acquire a competency by working in one of several disciplinary areas.
This means choice! For instance, students who love history or art or science will be able to approach writing, critical thinking, or oral communication from the perspectives that most resonate with them. Students will then deepen and broaden the intellectual skills learned in MAC as they move on to courses that are part of their disciplinary focus.
