The Spartans 1st (SF) program matches first year students with continuing students. Mentor Collective, UNCG platform partner, handles the matching process, using the matching survey submitted by peer mentors and mentees. Matches are based on the following criteria:
- Mentee’s top matching criterion
- Desired mentor’s major
- Career interests
- Desired mentoring frequency Academic interests
- Details about self
- Challenges
- Hobbies
- Requested age
- Languages
Once students are matched, peer mentors are expected to connect with their mentee once per month and log each conversation in the Mentor Collective Student Dashboard (an online tool used to track mentorship engagement).
By participating in Mentor Collective as a SF peer-mentor, you will:
- Use personal experiences and knowledge of campus resources to guide mentee(s) towards relevant support and opportunities.
- Connect with mentee(s) at least 1x a month.
- Log conversations on the Mentor Collective Student Dashboard at least 1x a month.
