Academic Achievement Center

We support students in reaching their potential and finding success at UNCG!

Come see staff at the Academic Achievement Center to:

  • practice and review content from your classes,
  • participate in engaged learning with your peers, and
  • improve your academic self-confidence and competence

You can engage with us in multiple ways—in person or online, appointment-based or drop-in services, which include peer tutoring, workshops on learning skills, and peer academic success coaching (for taking that deep-dive into time management, study skills, note taking, reading strategies and more).

AAC services are provided to any UNCG student at no additional cost; our mission is funded by state and university, as well as gifts from alumni.

AAC Mission and Vision

The Academic Achievement Center cultivates the development of critical thinking skills and active learning through personal, collaborative exchanges between students, tutors, leaders, and staff. Our culture of learning is based on cognitive scaffolding that deepens the student's knowledge of specific subject material and facilitates increased self-awareness of how they learn in general.

Students discover the value of engaging actively in the learning process and develop the ability to adapt to the varying challenges of liberal arts coursework. Ultimately, students' participation in sessions results in greater self-confidence, independence, and improved academic performance.
