Transfer Initiatives

In the Division of Student Success, Transfer Initiatives seeks to provide comprehensive resources and support to UNCG transfer students, as well as the mentors, family members, faculty, and advising professionals who serve as guides throughout the college experience.

Regardless of what institution(s) you have attended before UNCG, or where your goals might take you from here, you have a place at UNCG as a Spartan transfer student and an entire community here to support you in your academic journey.

The foundation for academic success begins before you ever arrive on campus. Offices across campus collaborate to provide essential resources and services to transfer students to ensure you have everything you need prior to your first semester of enrollment.

You’re here, and part of the UNCG community! Now the focus is on starting strong and then leveraging that foundation to maintain your academic achievement throughout the duration of your undergraduate career.

You’re almost to the finish line! Now is the time to pay extra close attention to your Degree Works evaluation, as well as graduation related dates and deadlines to ensure a smooth final stretch in earning your UNCG degree.

It takes a village! The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students recommends 5 best practices that institutions should forefront to support transfer student success:

Confront false assumptions and deficit thinking
Know who the transfer students are at your institution
Offer relentless welcome
Build connections across the institution
Work to improve systems and structures

National Transfer Student Week

UNCG and the Division of Student Success are proud to celebrate National Transfer Student Week. Events take place annually every third week of October.
