Did you know that almost 40% of UNCG students started at another college or university before becoming a Spartan?
There are so many transfer students thriving on campus, and there’s no better way for new transfer students to get connected than through Transfer2Transfer (T2T). This mentorship program matches new first-year transfer students with a volunteer transfer student mentor who is more experienced at UNCG after successfully transferring from another institution.
All mentor-mentee matches are matched based on the following criteria:
- Desired Major
- Career Interests
- Academic Interests
- Preferred Mentoring Frequency
- Challenges
- Hobbies
- Age Preferences
- Languages
Mentors
Peer mentors are trained to support mentees, share campus resources, and build meaningful connections. Mentors commit to check in with their mentees monthly, provide support for their mentees’ academic and social belonging, and log interactions in the Mentor Collective platform. As a mentor, you will gain valuable experience, receive a digital Mentor Collective Success Series Certificate, a graduation cord, and Spartan Experience Connections/Spartan Success Intermediate-Level transcript credit.
Mentees
While there are many people and resources here to support you at UNCG, having a T2T mentor will give you the student perspective right from the beginning. Mentors have been where you are and understand all the complexities of the transfer experience. They will help you get connected early and find the best ways to get involved so that you can make the most of your first year on campus. To get matched with your mentor, register as a T2T mentee and complete a brief 5-minute Mentor Collective matching survey.
