Schedule an Orientation or Workshop

If you are interested in the Communication Lab giving an orientation to your class or if you would like a workshop to help support a specific aspect of your class, please reach out to a member of the admin team. Assistant Director Gia Sorenson (gmcoturr@uncg.edu) can help with writing-based workshops; Assistant Director Olivia King (ogking@uncg.edu) can help with speaking-based workshops.
Our orientations cover the Communication Lab’s philosophy and what we can help with, how our sessions run, and how to make an appointment. We will discuss logistics so that students know exactly what to expect and we will answer any questions. Our orientations typically last 10-15 minutes. 
Our workshops will be designed in conjunction with the instructor of record and will typically explore a specific topic related to the class or a particular assignment. Workshops vary widely depending on what faculty need for their class; all workshop requests will be followed up by a meeting to discuss what the workshop needs to accomplish. Workshop length is flexible; we can use an entire class period or part of one, depending on what instructors need. All workshops will be concluded with a brief (~5 minute) orientation so that students know where to go for further support.
