The Academic Achievement Center offers tutoring at no cost for UNCG students in many courses.
Through the AAC, students meet with a trained peer tutor to review course material, prepare for exams, and talk about ways to study and learn more effectively. AAC tutors are trained to provide a positive and supportive learning environment and to help students to achieve their academic goals. During tutoring sessions, students can expect to ask questions, collaborate with peers, tackle challenging content, and explore new methods of studying and problem solving.
TUTORING IS
- Facilitated by a trained, faculty-recommended tutor
- Interactive and collaborative; offered in small groups
- Personalized based on students’ goals
- Provided at no additional cost to UNCG students
- Offered in-person and online, between 8 am and 9 pm Monday through Sunday (depending on tutor availability).
While tutors cannot help with graded assignments, they can help review content, answer questions, assist with ungraded work, and offer study tips.

SCHEDULING
AAC Tutoring services begin the second week of classes and continue through the last day of classes.
- Our scheduling platform (TracCloud) allows you to book appointments between 12 hours and 3 weeks in advance.
- You can schedule up to three appointments per course every seven days.
- Please attend any appointment you book. Canceling with less than 6 hours notice or not showing up to an appointment may result in losing access to scheduling future appointments.
- Many session times will allow you to book weekly recurring sessions, or you can schedule a one-time appointment.
- Each appointment can include up to five students who are in the same course and course section as you are.
PLEASE NOTE: Tutoring is contingent upon available tutors and sessions. If you don’t see a time that works for your availability, please let us know!
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF TUTORING
- Show up on time for each session.
- Be ready to learn and discuss class materials with your peers.
- Bring any notes, questions, textbooks, and other class materials or resources with you.
- Sign up for a session each week– even if there’s a week where you have fewer questions, you can use that time to review and stay on top of course material (especially for classes with cumulative exams!)
- Let your tutor know how you learn best. Your tutor is there to support you, so don’t be afraid to ask for more examples, another explanation for a concept or term, or more practice.
- Attend all your classes. Tutoring is a great supplemental resource, but it’s not a replacement for attending classes. Make sure you go to your lectures, labs, and professor’s office hours, too.
