Academic Skills

As a member of Special Support Services, you can take advantage of the Academic Skills component to improve what you do both in and out of the classroom. We utilize a variety of assessment instruments to determine your personal strengths and weaknesses as a student. Academic Skills specialists are on hand to interpret these test results and work one-on-one with students to develop skills and produce effective results.

Many students seek advice and assistance with how to:

  • Budget time better
  • Be a better listener and note taker
  • Improve reading comprehension
  • Develop study techniques for all kinds of course material
  • Study more effectively
  • Prepare for tests and overcome test anxiety
  • Develop writing skills and research proficiency
  • Prepare for graduate school/professional school applications and tests (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, NCLEX, and PRAXIS II)

To begin improving your skills through individualized sessions, apply to become a member of SSS by filling out the SSS New Student Application OR if you are a returning student of SSS, click here to put in a new request.
